Summer 2006 in Italy: Orvieto The Old Town

My Japanese friend, Yoko Takahashi, was learning piano in Italy. So I visited her in an old town named Orvieto located in Umbria region.

After entrained, me and my friend took funicolare. It's kinda a small train to access Orvieto.
The cost is € 1.00 for one way.

Here's the railway.

Pict from:

We picked up the city bus in Piazza Cahen, which went through the main streets and squares of Orvieto.

A way to Piazza del Duomo. The Duomo is an amazing masterpiece of Gothic and Romanesque architecture.

Theme of Today: Sporty. Red Looney Toones t-shirt, blue jeans, and white Converse sneakers plus white red tote bag

This Duomo construction was began in 1290.

Found a good spot on the other side of the Duomo.

The left side entrance.

Left to the front side of the Duomo.

Wanna go to a place that built over 2500 years ago??
This is the place! A man-made cave named Underground Orvieto or Orvieto Ipogea in Italian.

Curios??

And here we are! Outside the Ipogea. You can see the greenery.
